Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information CoderTo collects when you visit this website or use one of our products, why we collect it, who helps us handle it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
CoderTo builds and runs its own software products — RankTera, CoTimer and ChatXBot — and sells subscriptions to them. When you visit this site, start a trial, buy a subscription or write to us, CoderTo decides how the personal information you give us is handled and is responsible for looking after it.
In this policy, "we", "us" and "CoderTo" mean the company that operates coderto.com and the products listed above. "You" means anyone who uses this website or one of those products.
Information we collect
We ask only for what we need to run the service. We do not buy personal information about you from data brokers, and we do not build advertising profiles.
- Account details — your name, email address, the company name you give us if any, and a protected version of your password. We never store a password in a readable form.
- Subscription and payment details — the plan you chose, your billing country, invoices, renewal dates, and the card type and last four digits. Full card numbers are handled by our payments provider and never reach our servers.
- What you put into the products — the settings, files, messages and other content you or your team add while using a product. This stays yours; we handle it only so the product can work for you.
- Messages you send us — the contact-form and email conversations you have with us, so we can answer you and keep a record of what was asked.
- Website and product usage — which pages and features are used, the approximate location and the browser and device type of the connection you use, and technical records that help us keep the service secure and find faults.
How we use your information
- To provide the service — create and secure your account, run the features your plan includes, and keep your data available to you.
- To take payment — start, renew, change or cancel a subscription and send you invoices and receipts.
- To support you — answer your questions, investigate problems, and tell you about faults or planned maintenance.
- To keep things safe — detect and prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorised access, and apply the limits that come with your plan.
- To improve our products — understand which features are used and where people get stuck, so we can make the products better.
- To stay in touch — send the service messages that come with having an account, such as billing and security notices, and — only if you have agreed — occasional product news you can unsubscribe from at any time.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not rent it, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Why we are allowed to use it
Where data-protection law such as the GDPR applies, we rely on one of the following grounds:
- To deliver what you signed up for — running your account, your subscription and the product features it includes.
- Our legitimate interests — keeping the service secure, preventing abuse and improving our products, weighed against your rights.
- A legal duty — keeping billing and tax records and responding to lawful requests.
- Your agreement — for optional cookies and product news, which you can withdraw whenever you like.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We use two kinds:
- Essential cookies — keep you signed in, remember whether you chose the light or dark theme, and protect our forms from abuse. The site cannot work properly without them.
- Measurement cookies — count visits and show us which pages are useful. We set these only where you have agreed, and you can change your mind at any time.
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the essential ones, parts of the site and the products will stop working.
Companies that help us run CoderTo
We share personal information only with the companies we need to run the service. Each of them is bound by a written contract to protect it and to use it only for the work we ask them to do.
- Payments provider — to take subscription payments, handle card details and issue invoices.
- Hosting provider — to run our servers, databases and backups.
- Email delivery provider — to send account, billing and support emails.
- Fault-monitoring and analytics providers — to record errors and measure how the website and products are used.
- AI providers — for features that use AI, the text you submit is passed to a specialist provider so it can produce the result. We choose providers that do not use it to train their public models.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of CoderTo and its users, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of the business — in which case we would tell account holders first.
How long we keep your information
- Account and product data — kept while your account is open. After you close it we delete or anonymise it within 90 days, and sooner if you ask.
- Billing records — kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which is usually several years.
- Support conversations — kept for up to three years so we have the history of your requests.
- Technical and security records — kept for a short period, normally no longer than twelve months.
Where your information is handled
The companies listed above may store or process information in countries other than your own. When information leaves your country we rely on the safeguards the law requires, such as approved standard contract terms, so that it keeps a similar level of protection wherever it is handled.
How we protect your information
Connections to our website and products are encrypted, passwords are stored in a protected form, and access to customer data is limited to the few people who need it to run the service. We take regular backups and review who has access.
No service can promise perfect security. If a breach ever affects your information we will tell you and the relevant authority within the time the law sets.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
- ask us to delete it, or to limit or object to the way we use it;
- receive it in a form you can take elsewhere;
- withdraw your agreement to optional cookies or product news at any time;
- complain to the data-protection authority where you live.
Most of this you can do yourself from your account settings. For anything else, write to us and we will reply within the time the law allows. We do not charge for a reasonable request.
Self-hosted installations
Some of our products can be licensed to run on your own servers. In that case the day-to-day data stays with you: we do not receive the content your installation handles, and you decide how long it is kept. We still hold the account and billing details attached to your licence, and we handle whatever information you choose to send us when you ask for support.
Children
Our products are made for businesses and are not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our products change or the law changes. The new version appears on this page with a new "last updated" date, and we will email account holders before any important change takes effect.
